  • Strong leadership really can prevent wars…

Idk what “strong” leadership is supposed to mean in this context. Because, in the American context, strength is directly correlated with a leader’s willingness to inflict unimaginable pain and suffering on one’s domestic and global opposition.

shitting your pants on camera, double tapping a school full of little girls, shitting your pants on camera, starting a pointless war…

Terror campaigns have a long and historically effective track record. Whether or not you’re cotenant when you press the big red button hardly matters.

The problem with fascist governments is that they’re very good at extracting enormous amounts of wealth from vulnerable people. So they produce a vicious cycle of assault, extraction, re-arming, renewed assault. Liberals heckling from the sides with “Haha, he poopie his panties!” doesn’t change any of that.

Trump’s allies are gaining wealth, sovereign territory, and an expanded role in the state bureaucracy. I don’t see anyone willing to acknowledge that. And so, once he’s scattered his fascist seeds, I question whether anyone will remember to pull them back out again before the next harvest.

  • But they are completely turned off by college campus culture warrior performative activism.

Turnout in the Wisconsin Dem primary was head-and-shoulders above the GOP race. People are excited to vote for an anti-Trump candidate and they’re bickering on the margins over who the best person for the job will be.

To say they’re “turned off”, you need to explain where the 310,230 people who voted for Hong came from. Nevermind the 32,237 that went to Barnes even after withdrawing. Clearly, culture warriors aren’t so unpopular that they can’t generate an enormous and enthusiastic base of support.

Just don’t use the word socialism.

The Republicans, the neoliberals, and the national media are going to call you a socialist whether you run as one or not.

If you’ve got popular policies and a socialist outlook, might as well put them both on the ballot together. The crown jewel of American Capitalism, NYC, just put an out-and-proud Socialist Mayor. If you can win there, you can win anywhere.

  • The poors can still get in if they are willing to become indebted wage slaves with a 6 figure debit for the next 20-30 years.

They can’t. Those schools are all scams. That’s the real ugliness. Private universities charging six figures also have some of the worst placement rates and poorest post-collegate incomes.

Just, don’t expect to get in to a social connection generator for nepo babies

Right. Because the degree is a social gatekeeper first and foremost.

  • You’ve found a bunch of clickbait headlines built on anecdotes.

But absent a marginal performance dip in the wake of COVID, overall US rates have been relatively flat for the first quarter of the 21st century.

What you’re witnessing is a media converge on a given topic, not a social crisis. Once the media hype dies down, you’ll forget about it.
