It’s a good question, I’m very curious to know if he did this for political reasons, personal reasons, or both.
FYI, his family is wealthy. They own a country club in Maryland. Not that I’m opposed to crowd-funding his defense. I think it would send another message that the greedy health insurance companies need to hear loud and clear.
Always annoys the hell out of me when politicians say BS like, “We know you like your private insurance plan and want to keep it”.
So out of touch.
I’m not a legal / financial expert by any means. But I think info about the executives, board, etc., has to be published in things like the securities prospectus for the companies, etc.
She must have ripped off some wealthy people. Rookie mistake. Only steal from the poor, then the justice system doesn’t care.

This is interesting. There are somewhat similar sentiments among anarchists in the US who think “burning it all down” is the only way to fix the system (rebuilding it from the ashes). In their fantasy, it’s worth it to them to just destroy any and all parts of the current system and spread fear and chaos. Not the same idea, but I can see some overlap in mentality.
I half expect him to go running into Putin’s arms at some point.

I would love to know how many civil servants plan on voting for MAGA. I would like to think it’s a teeny tiny percentage…but I’d probably be disappointed to learn that it’s not.
Lina Khan is my hero.
I’ve never put much stock in the “we are living in a simulation” but stories like this make me wonder if one of the sim developer’s kids is in here doing stuff.
Interesting that they are laying off managers while “moving towards more automation”. I’m guessing they mean draconian employee-monitoring hardware and software installed in the vehicles, warehouses, repair facilities, etc.
I guess with the constant outrage machine and fear mongering that goes on 24x7 now, some people have just grown numb. It just doesn’t register with them that democracy itself is on the line right now. If Trump wins, people could get put into camps. The very real possibility of that just doesn’t sink in. They have forgotten that our nation has been to these dark places before. Our history is stained with that sort of regressive authoritarian nightmare stuff.
Trump was abysmal… and it frustrates me that it probably didn’t hurt him all that much. Yes, he looked like an angry incoherent buffoon and a spoiled pouting baby. He probably lost a few votes.
But that same performance from anyone else would have tanked their campaign. If Harris had been even slightly “off” or had a cold or made any significant mistakes, that’s all the fucking MSM would be talking about today. Thank the stars she completely kicked his ass and looked good doing it.
But it’s batshit that Trump can be so unhinged and still be in the running. He talks like the idiots who vote for him. His freakshow antics are good for ratings. That’s it. That’s the magic formula. It’s dumb, it’s dangerous, it’s simple, and it works.
It’s almost enough to make me think citizens should have to pass a basic civics exam to vote. I am not really there yet, but I can see some good arguments for it.
I was expecting lots of farting.
Like you, I’m surprised he’s sort-of held it together. They gave him the right drug cocktail I guess.
I find going on and off DST to be kind of a nuisance, but I don’t have strong feelings about it one way or the other. It seems like the experience varies from place to place, and your region’s distance to the equator is an important factor. The closer you are to the equator, the less necessary DST is.
Historically, some of the regions that went off of DST much prefer it that way, and never looked back. But others regretted opting out of it, and went back to doing it again after everyone complained about it.
I’m sure 47 will make it all about him, whatever he does. And it will probably be a chaotic mess of software patches when they try to implement it. There will be far worse problems to deal with during the Stupid Ages, but throw this one on the pile I guess.
