Yes, they have some secure communications systems, but none that are safe to use on a mobile device. Signal is literally more advanced than what they’re using. It’s far from insane.
Yeah, this article was truly a fascinating read! The one thing that surprised me from Goldberg though, was that he continually questioned their use of signal. I mean, why wouldn’t they use it?
They could try to develop their own secure messaging app, but what would be the point of that when another already exists and they can verify the code is air tight because it’s open source. And, developing their own app would mean the possibility of relying on software that could contain unknown bugs or vulnerabilities.
The only safe cryptographic systems are open source ones.
I’ve played a lot of post apocalyptic video games, lately those experiences are beginning to feel more relevant than I ever wanted… But across all of them, one constant has always remained true: slavers are kill on sight.
The article says she’s a “legal permanent us resident”. It’s a little weird that she’s been living in the US for 37 years and never got her citizenship. I wonder what that’s about.
Yeah, that’s not a bad idea
Are you not entertained?
So are people treating this as a generalized sign of inflation, or are people actually worried about eggs?
Because if you’re treating this as a gauge of inflation, it’s a bad one, as there’s a bird flu outbreak greatly affecting egg prices.
And if it’s just concern about eggs… I don’t get it. I mean, I think our household eats a lot of eggs, but a lot is like 2-3 dozen a week. And if eggs cost $2 more than usual, well, that’s $6 a week. Meh? I doubt this is breaking the bank for many people.
It sounds like we all agree. Despite all the rightful cybertruck hate and despite the garish gold color, this driver was not even particularly persecuted. He was just living the life of a normal Bostonian (which always includes other drivers cursing at you, cause that’s what we do here).
So… This is actually just a non-story. The headline could have been “Ridiculous gold cybertruck exists in Massachusetts, driver treated normally”
Or perhaps,
“Driver of ridiculous gold cyber truck somehow still isn’t getting enough attention!”
I guess they should have just borrowed them from the library.
Coincidentally, spaceX has a woman for a CEO.
I’m not sure what the takeaway is there, but probably hypocrisy and bigotry at the least.
Ok, now be evil.
19-24…
Like army bootcamp recruits. At this age you can tell a kid to do anything and they’ll do it just to prove how badass they really are.
This is the age to get them if you want gung ho, eager soldiers who won’t ask questions.
None have responded to requests for comment from WIRED.
Who has spoken with them? Because some conversations need to happen.
Yep trump sure does say shit.
Yeah, someone turns it to midnight, and then it’s doomsday morning. And then later, when you get to work everyone thinks they’re a freaking comedian when they say “ugh, doomsdays… am I right?” You’ll have to hear some variation of that joke all day. “Oh man, doomsdays are the worst”, yeah Bob, you’re hilarious…
(And yes, you’ll be working on doomsday, you don’t get those off)
This is really dumb for a number of reasons. But first and foremost, we have a strong alliance with Taiwan, we should be trying to maintain that connection and not let our relationship become hostile. We have military bases in Taiwan, this is part of how we keep a close eye on China. If nothing else, Taiwan is strategically important to us.
In other words, don’t fuck up years of successful diplomacy to make a quick buck like a nearsighted moron.
Unless this means that the mayor and police chief agree to deploy Newark Police to physically stop and detain ICE agents, knowing damn well that a confrontation could end in a bloodbath, that is exactly what they will do.
Bullshit! It would absolutely not. Feds and local cops butt heads all the time, and never leads to a bloodbath, just bruised egos. Local cops would probably love the chance to be the ones to take something away from a federal agency.
I’m pretty sure that’s discrimination at that point. He can change laws and prevent people from being hired, but laying people off/firing people over this will violate some serious civil rights laws, ADA, ADEA, EEOC, that kind of thing.
I think he’s probably already crossing the line, i’d be surprised if this stands.
Oh… He’s not even the real Dread Pirate Roberts!
