Idiocracy was way too optimistic about the future.
The richest man on the planet who once joked about ending world hunger is cutting federal spending of the richest and most powerful nation on the planet. Let that sink in for a moment.
Oh you mean yet another revolutionary breakthrough from China turned out to be just smoke in mirrors? I am shocked! shocked I tell you!
And still, the reaction on the stock market showed how fragile and overblown yet not well understood the whole LLM technology is. Maybe at least some investors learned to tread more carefully and be more realistic about their expectations… but I’m not holding my breath.
Tech billionaires had 4 years to prepare for another Trump term and they‘re not wasting a second to go full fascist this time around. The parallels to industrials in and around 1930s Germany are horrifyingly staggering. These lizards only care about the bottom line. Always did.
For those unaware, the AfD wants one of the most export reliant countries on the planet to just leave the EU. Even among far right parties in the EU, this is exceptionally unpopular. There is probably no other party who would even consider leaving the EU after what happened with the UK. It goes to show how absolutely irrational the German far right are.
Seems like they don’t want to find him. Good on them.
If you haven’t seen them you should check out some of the crazy videos of literally tens of thousands of cyclists cycling down the streets together. It’s honestly so beautiful to see and the stories I’ve heard from participants meeting strangers from all over the place was touching. So of course it wouldn’t last, because that’s no longer a controlled environment the government can track properly. And sure it also looks a little dangerous because it’s just sooo many bicycles but come on, safety isn’t usually very high on the government’s priority list. But hey, it sure made history already.
Setting aside what others have said here. I think the article does a lot of framing by suggesting the protests and criticism are entirely directed at Israel’s entry. From what I’ve seen, the whole event itself is in the midst of a crossfire of criticism for letting Israel participate as well as being heavily biased in favor of the Israeli contestant. The Q&A with the contestants yesterday seemed to be very politicized in general. But once Golan was asked something, the organizers felt the need to clarify that she does not have to answer anything she felt uncomfortable with. That rubbed the (now probably former) contestant of the Netherlands the wrong way, asking “Why not?”. Well, the Joost situation certainly doesn’t help the organizers either. Whether they had anything to do with it or not, it puts the spotlight on them even more.
That‘s exactly what bombs are for. You‘d think the POTUS would be aware what effect weapons of mass destruction have on civilian lives. In Germany we‘re still digging them out 80 years later as WW2 death tolls rise.
Wouldn’t be the first time Youtube got trigger happy but there actually are real victims of violence in it so it makes sense according to Youtube’s own guidelines. It is a justified restriction. It really sucks how it prevents adults from seeing it, though. Fuck the algorithm.
At the end of the day, Russia generally does exactly what you expected it to do all along.
Coincidentally, climate denial and more power to the private sector is exactly what Putin wants.
Because corporations and politicians always keep their vows.
I’m glad to hear the community has rallied around the business, but that doesn’t excuse Tesla from bilking them.
Exactly. Excuses like these are just a stone throw away from “You should pay Tesla to give your business work. Just think of the expose you get!” rhetoric. Tesla is essentially riding into the sunset on the back of the wonderful community that came in to show support for a local business. It’s a happy end only in spite of Teslas awful role in it.
Guy is basically just a western borderline tankie.
silicone jets
Minor spelling mistake, but I wouldn’t be surprised to find some in those jets.
Got big around 5-6 years ago…
To cut those kings and peasants some slack, medieval kingdoms weren’t nearly as centralized and Kings didn’t have nearly as much power or leeway as the American President. You’re probably thinking of absolute monarchy in the modern age.
