Yep. This isn’t lack of self awareness or hypocrisy. It’s manufacture of consent for them to do what they want.
Especially considering that that means they believe there’s no enforcement or punishments that the judicial branch will be able to Leverage to provide relief. And that it is worth destroying their actual reputation as a law firm. Throwing away all possible future clients in order to serve a fascist. Who the hell would hire anyone from a law firm that wouldn’t even defend themselves. How can you expect them to defend you?
I mostly agree with you. I wood just like to add that this isn’t a modern thing or even a modern conservative thing. It’s a human nature thing throughout all of human history.
You are absolutely right though that social pressure plays a lot into it as well. Currently my girlfriend is in north carolina. She doesn’t have cable. She knows that all three of the major local broadcast stations are all Sinclair propaganda as well. And doesn’t get her news from them. However she isn’t particularly engaged digging up News online. Outside of what her anarcho communist boyfriend sends her way. I’m working on that. Believe me I am. However she absolutely gets it from everyone within for proximity. Even if she doesn’t watch herself. Human beings are very coated to generally believe what those around them believe. It’s the rare ones that will go against the opinion of their local society.
A lot of them don’t. In fact I’d have to guess for everyone that does there’s probably two or three that don’t. It’s an easy answer. Too easy to answer. But you’ll find out that if you talk to many of them it doesn’t tend to match up. Yes Facebook is still plenty of problem. And no one should use it. But there are other problems than Facebook And Fox News. As long as we focus on just those. the actual core of the problem goes unaddressed.
Their local media didn’t cover any of that. And that’s the problem. It’s not a case of stupidity or willful ignorance for a lot of them. They don’t get their news from cable or online. Just their local reliable broadcaster. Which over the last 20 years has been bought now and replaced with propaganda from companies like Sinclair.
Autonomous mobile fash cameras. What’s the worst thing that happened LOL.
We all knew he would. And he’ll suffer no repercussions for his crime.
Well I guess all these years later we finally get to quit picking on Neville Chamberlain so often. Because we have a new example
This is the power of the US oligarch media/propaganda echo chamber. The information that this is what they would do was out there. But many get their news from only their local broadcast stations. And when they’re owned by Sinclair, they don’t get that information.
Sinclair is only telling them that musk is saving them billions and money and that Trump is doing a wonderful job. Sinclair spent the last 4 years down playing the insurrection and consistently attacking anyone who wasn’t trump.
Then talk to your husband and not anyone else.
Don’t matter enough to pursue finding candidates for offices that Republicans run for unopposed here. Even in the outskirts of the major metropolitan areas let alone the rest of the state.
Waiting for us to matter enough to help organize that is a waste of time though. Much like national Democrats sadly.
If there’s a person who knows from experience, who should also know that they’ll ignore him.
For autocrats and dictators, yes.
It’s unprecedented in us history. But in world history it’s following a particular game plan from the last century 100%.
Nothing. He’s always been a bullyish jerk. The national media never covered it. And his opponent was objectively worse.
I never said it did. That’s why Sanders got a lot of that changed working with the Democrats.
It just always comes off as manipulative and disingenuous whenever anyone makes it about Sanders. Especially when they then fail to mention how he worked with the very same Democratic party to make the primaries more democratic. Seemingly being performatively outranged for a man who wasn’t. Almost like you don’t understand the man you claim to support. Or who he is/what he’s about.
I’ve never regretted voting for Sanders in both primaries. Unfortunately a very vocal disingenuous minority do make me reluctant to mention it publicly often.
Because it happens in, every, single, election. It wasn’t some special treatment Sanders got. Serious question, did you just come of voting age in the last 5 years? I’ve been at it for over 30 now, and have seen this several times.
I wouldn’t say he got crushed. But you’re not wrong. Despite people being wrong down voting you for saying that he lost the popular vote. He 100% did. I can say that as someone who voted for sanders. Unfortunately a lot of Sanders voters can’t.
A lot of the Democrats primary rules weren’t very democratic. But Sanders knew what they were going in. And Democrats didn’t break the rules. And despite losing, Sanders got shit done and helped make the rules more democratic for the future.
Hitler would be proud. No one should want that.
