First of all, i was answering to someone who seemed like a tankie making a bad faith argument.
The fact that Trump is about to get re-elected as president, seems to indicate that information warfare is very effective. Foreign countries can tap in whatever resentment there is, amplify and guide it. And next thing you know, Ukraine no longer exists.
GOP has gone from the party of McCain who warned the US about Putin, and who Obama laughed at and every democrat accused him of having Cold War mentality, to the party of “Yeah, Putin is cool and the US should be more like Russia”, in just a couple years.
Personally, i am a very big “fuck it” man, if humans arent capable of making very basic and easy decisions, let Trump get elected and Russia/China do information warfare(while shielding their own population from it). But some people seem to care about the world and they need to decide what they want.
They have to decide whether they want to use authoritarianism to “save” democracy, or risk it all by having a liberal society and hope people can eventually get educated to make informed decision(while information warfare risks bringing the country to a civil war). As i said, decisions have consequences.
I have news for you, China has already banned everything and if any western app exists in China, it must have its servers in China and it only works in “cooperation” in a local chinese company(which has complete or partial ownership of the chinese part of the app). Have you ever heard the Great Firewall of China?

The truth is that “western” countries will be “fine”. They have the money to build walls(for the rising sea and immigrants), cool and heat all the houses, buy/grow food, infinite energy. The cost of living will increase, the quality of life might decrease but nothing directly societal threatening.
Climate change will mostly affect poorer countries, that are already struggling to survive. Those countries cant really afford to do anything. And people in those countries will have to decide between dying or migrating. So the only “issue” for the “West” is the mass migration that will be caused by climate change.

Do you know which country has Sharia? Greece, or at least the muslims in Greece(only in Thrace region), because 100+ years ago when treaties were signed with Turkey/Ottoman Empire, Greece agreed to let the muslims in Greece have Sharia law for family issues.
Because of this, the greek state assigns a Mufti(because he is a judge) while the muslim population in Greece obviously chooses their own Mufti(because he is a muslim priest). This has been a point of contention.
In fact, muslims in Greece werent even allowed to use normal greek law until a few years ago when the leftist government voted to give them the option.
Greece is gonna pay 4 or 8 billion dollars for the F-35(depending on whether it buys 20 or 40 of them). The US is just giving old surplus crap to Greece so that Greece will give its even older surplus crap to Ukraine.
And while i am not the biggest supporter of the current conservative government, i think Greece will continue having elections, wont use chemical weapons on any minorities or invade a tiny neighbour. So i dont see how Greece is comparable to Iraq.

The weirdest thing about this whole antivaxx movement is that it has spread to Europe too. Greece has conscription, so 90%+ of greek males have served in the greek military. And almost all of them got vaccinated with a trillion vaccines, including ones against gozzila(you can never be too safe). And thats on top of whatever vaccines babies usually receive.
Noone complained about it. There was some antivaxx movement before but with covid, everyone went crazy with the vaccines. Suddenly vaccines were evil, noone knew what they had in them, it’s a global conspiracy. Everyone became a vaccine expert.
America needs to stop exporting their brain rot, we already have enough on our own.

And in before “but i need to eat”, you dont need to eat animal products. You can have a healthy life with a vegan diet, arguably an even healthier life.
