I’ve found that amongst people I know who fly the Gadsden Flag, it makes zero sense. Like, if Ben and Jerry’s made a boot-leather flavor of ice cream, their target demographic and the those of the people who sell Gadsden Flags would be identical.

The best thing I have learned to do with age is embrace the awkwardness. You do something ridiculous and awkward, you laugh, call it out like it’s something funny for both of you, and then you move on.
“Gow’s it hoeing? …wait… that’s not right. Hoooow’s… itt… gooooiiing… there we go, nailed it.”

I think that it is unfortunate that he got shanked, as he was convicted and appropriately sentenced for the murder he committed. That is as it should be.
Shank the ones that get away with it, not the ones in jail for it.
the man who has openly declared since the 2000s that democracy is a mistake and that he wants to destroy the United States and European countries to establish city-states, each governed by a different corporation (fiefdoms), on our ruins
Wait. Did dude read Snowcrash and think “yeah, that future, that’s my utopia!”?
To your second point:
how often I send an email with a bulleted list of issues that need to be addressed and the response only addresses a fraction of them while the rest are ignores.
I typically will reply with just the bulleted points they didn’t address and then keep sending it with less and less bullets until either they answer all points or stop replying… after the third or fourth reminder email. I make sure the previous emails are in the string and never change the title.
That angry/relieved/happy mix would make for an interesting evening for me. I’d eat the lot and feel I deserved it for how they done me dirty, even if I secretly was relieved not to have to go to a big social event.

Our combination microwave/air fryer/oven has this cool function where after the timer hits 0 but before it beeps, it keeps turning until it is back in the original position (so if you have, for example, a coffee cup in there, the handle will face the same direction as it did when put in. That buffer to pull it out without beeping was kind of amazing.

News@lemmy.world•Two Israeli embassy staff shot dead near Washington DC Jewish museum
185·11 months agoIt doesn’t look like this was an “attack on random civilians.” Out of all the people they could have killed, they killed people who work for the Israeli Embassy. They worked for the government doing the genocide.
Now did they support it? Who knows, but this shooter was not shooting up a movie theater. It was no more random than the United Healthcare CEO.
I’ve had almost exclusively military doctors for nearly two decades, and I can tell you they aren’t trying to respect your feelings (not that they’re dicks). If your tests come back with high cholesterol, they aren’t jumping to Lipitor or some shit, they’ll refer you to a nutritionist and tell you to exercise more. They have no problems telling you that your health troubles come from that weight crushing your organs and joints.
And that’s as a person in the military, who has to maintain a certain level if fitness to keep my job.

News@lemmy.world•White House calls Amazon ‘hostile’ for reportedly planning to list tariff costs
6·1 year agoI would be pissed if they didn’t. Getting surprised AFTER the purchase with an extra… whatever percentage Trump has settled on this week, would be absolutely infuriating.
Interesting that allowing women to vote created a situation where women felt it less absolutely necessary to get married. Because after a while, their voice had to be considered when discussing bills like prohibiting banks from refusing bank accounts, home loans, and credit cards to women.
