  • I got sent home for the day because I responded to the wrong email. I clicked on the wrong email and wrote a response that didn’t make any sense.

From home, I sent one last email to work saying I wouldn’t be returning to work. That was the last thing I said them. That really pissed them off, they tried so hard to get me to come back in for an “exit interview”, which is just what they use to cover their ass. They even withheld a bonus check. By law, they can’t withhold your last paycheck owed, though.

  • In January 2013, an Australian teen measured a Subway footlong and found it came up short at only 11 inches. He posted a photo on Facebook, sparking an online frenzy. Lawsuits soon followed in the United States, with plaintiffs alleging that Subway was engaging in deceptive marketing practices by advertising its large sandwiches as “footlongs.”

Ultimately, the class action lawsuits against Subway over the length of its footlong sandwiches were either dismissed or settled out of court. In 2016, a settlement was reached in one of the main cases. As part of the agreement, Subway said it would implement certain measures to ensure its footlong sandwiches are at least 12 inches long.

  • If you’re going to the trouble of writing something, my assumption is that you want to communicate. We can only communicate clearly with each other, if we all agree on and use the same word spellings and grammar rules. Otherwise, why bother?

One of the more frustrating things I see daily is titles that don’t make it clear whether OP is asking a question, or about to present an explanation.

“Why my dogs throw up in the house” instead of “Why do my dogs throw up in the house*?*”

(I don’t know how to italicize the question mark.)

  • To me it seems, even if we were plopped down into the moment and everything is again exactly as it was, that from that instant forward things would change. Nothing would play out the same way, and the farther we moved along the timeline from that point, the more things would be different. Five years after you arrive, it’s a very different world from the one you knew before, or read about. It’s chaos theory.

So, the idea that one could shape the future, by stopping expected future events is silly, apart from the immediate future around the instant you appeared, but good luck remembering any of that, if you were even alive then before. Everything will spin off in different directions on a second pass, nothing will play out the same exact way.

The really big things like the climate issue and the eventual fall of USSR are still going to happen, but no one will listen to you, same as today. There might still be a big terrorist attack around 2001, but exactly what and where will be unknown to you, but more likely it will be years before or after, or not at all. Lottery numbers won’t be the same, there won’t be the same companies on the stock market. The knowledge about the future-past you experienced is useless.

The only thing that helps is your knowledge about life’s universal principals, and a better understanding what you do and don’t want for yourself. Your life will be different, because you’ll be able to make better choices, but everything else will be different too.
