Way too late for that lol
Way too late for that lol
You might have me mistaken for someone else. I went out of my way to get people to vote for her but also knew she was doomed if she kept up her current path because I recognized what happened in 2016 and so kept criticizing her for supporting the genocide. I tried to set up a freaking vote exchange thread to swap votes with people in swing states even and got criticized by people here for even trying. I was trying harder than most people here because I recognized the danger and the patterns, instead of burying my head in the sand. I felt like freaking Cassandra lol.
If they’re telling people not to vote for someone because they’re doing something they can by all accounts stop doing, then it’s still on the candidate.
“She could have at least called for a ceasefire,” Khan said. (Harris repeatedly called for a ceasefire during her campaign, including during her Democratic convention speech.)
Ah, it’s just like being on Lemmy!
Oh great, this point again. They changed the meaning of the word ceasefire they were using. They tried to coopt the term into a meaningless one, while Muslims meant a ceasefire with actual effort and teeth behind it, meaning some sort of leverage, not the meaningless one of the Biden administration.
Keep in mind that Biden is still President and they completely ignored the letter they sent before about Israel having thirty days to change their human rights violations. So they clearly don’t give a shit even though they don’t even have to worry about reelection anymore so we can’t blame that.
Ah, yes, humanity is the first and foremost thing to be respected, which is why LGBT Americans have been served to fascists on a silver platter as a protest vote. Peak humanity.
You can’t feign outrage about people served on a platter when you did that exact same thing to people undergoing an active genocide. “First they came for the Palestinians, and I ignored them, because they’re not white.” Is that how the poem goes? You were willing to sacrifice an entire ethnic group so you can feel comfortable. Too many Americans were. Now we’re all going to suffer together, and frankly, we’re going to deserve it.
This country doesn’t prioritize education and then we wonder why people like Trump get elected.
Doubt this will help. He’s just looking for an excuse to be racist. Still, producing microchips domestically isn’t a bad idea either way.
Right?! I was about to say, this has already been happening now.
The one good thing about the Trump presidency will hopefully be a bunch of people waking up to bad things that are happening only because Trump is doing it instead of Biden.
Oh it’s 100% going to suck for sure. It will be hard and difficult and painful. But our ancestors fought for unions when unions were illegal, and union busting didn’t just mean saying “stop” or “you’re all fired”, it meant hiring private mercenaries to spray bullets into crowds and beat unarmed people with sticks. Women got the right to vote with protests and were often arrested for vandalism, arson, and all sorts of shit they did during them (and for prohibition, which I know didn’t really work, but hey, they got that amendment in anyway).
And I don’t even mean ancient ancestors, I mean like great grandparents. If they did it, so can we.

Cue that Onion video that just came out lol
I hate to say it, because being together makes us stronger and I’d hate to need a passport to visit my friends in other states, but I think I might be with you. It’s not like we’ve ever done anything good with our united strength anyway except for stomp around the world taking resources and sparking coups (except once in WW2). Our empire needs to crumble, like England, France, Spain, and Portgual’s. It’s too big, too unwieldy, too hard to make change or improve things and get consensus from this wide area. Plus, it’s a lot easier to fight for our rights if we just need to travel a couple hundred miles to a state capital rather than across the country to Washington, DC or to convince Southern and Midwestern rural voters.
I blame it more on Gore and the Democrats for not fighting for democracy more. Hopefully it becomes more clear the Supreme Court is an legitimate institution and people point to increasingly inane decisions as a reason not to listen to it.
Yay good news!
This has “Sorry to Bother You” energy
I’m not but I’m more pissed at Kamala for not being against a genocide than I am for single-issue voters, when that single issue is genocide. And being a genocide apologist is more silly imo
I love how everyone is blaming the voters for agonizing over this decision and not Harris for supporting a genocide.
Lemmy better than Reddit
Part of me is wondering if he’s going to make it to the election mentally.
It doesn’t help that so many economists, the tech priests of capitalism, didn’t believe that it could be a thing that companies were gouging people. They were blaming it on workers, high employment and high wages for the longest time and not the true culprits. I still feel like the media hasn’t caught up with the cause, except for maybe Jon Stewart if you count him as part of that.
It’s like RFK trying to ban medical commercials. I agree with him under this one circumstance, but for entirely different reasons lol.
