Ahh, fuck.
I’m a federal employee. I’ve also had to download my most recent earnings & leave statements (something I usually ignore) and take a snapshot of my current leave totals…just in case DOGE fucks it all up.

I live in the suburbs outside Washington, DC. One evening, we were in Bowie, MD (east of DC) at a shopping center, and a woman asked us for directions to the Mormon Temple.
For those who are not familiar, the Mormon Temple is off the beltway north of DC. It’s 25 miles away, and right now - nearing midday - it’s showing a 34 minute drive. However, when this happened, it was the evening rush hour, so it was at least an hour away, probably closer to an hour and a half, honestly. It was a drive I wouldn’t want to make, if I could avoid it.
She didn’t believe us. My wife just headed into the store we’d been heading for. I tried to convince her some more, but eventually she just drove off to ask someone else. I wonder how that adventure ended for her.
The only thing I can figure for how she got so far off course: I think she started typing the address of the Mormon Temple (which is on Stoneybrook Drive in Kensington) into whatever map app she was using, and the app gave her a result on Stonybrook Drive in Bowie, and she went with it - the shopping center we were at is just off Stonybrook. Note they aren’t spelled the same, but I can understand overlooking that. Who knows where she started and how long she’d been driving already.
LOL I was ready to defend the driver, having pulled in on the wrong side of the pump once or twice. I drive different cars, and while most have it on the driver’s side, one vehicle I drive regularly has it on the opposite side, so I have occasionally made the mistake.
But then I corrected it by turning the car around and pulling into the pump on the correct side…
Oh well.
Look, I have no problem with people worshiping God or Allah or the Flying Spaghetti Monster. This world is hard enough, if that helps them navigate it, GREAT.
Where I do have a problem is the hypocrisy. Christians beat us over the head with their bible, claiming they’re the ones being oppressed, then they vote for a guy that’s been divorced three times and cheated on his pregnant wife with a prostitute. The bible says we should help the needy, but these “Christians” support cutting programs that do just that. They worship the prosperity gospel, which is the opposite of what the bible actually says. The bible says, “Love thy neighbor” but many Christians seem to have added, “…unless he’s gay, Muslim, or not white.” I’m a cyclist, and I firmly believe that some drivers would happily run me off the road on their way to Sunday mass.
They go to church every Sunday and proclaim themselves “good Christians”, but then treat everyone else like shit the other 6 days and 23 hours. If my Catholic education was correct, God cares more about your behavior during that time you’re NOT in church. Maybe they’ll get theirs in hell, but they’re making life shit here on earth for everyone else.
I know, it’s not all Christians. Unfortunately the 90% that are doing these things are ruining the reputation of the rest.
I make the bed, at least my side of it, every day. If I don’t, my wife, along with the cats and dog, won’t give me any covers when I get in.
Funny how they care about the rights of states selectively.
He did have a gigantic fuck up. He fucked up the response to covid-19. Badly. And how much did his fuck up make the situation worse in the rest of the world?
74 million people still voted for him in 2020. During and immediately AFTER that fuck up.
I was just thinking the other day someone needs to cut out a picture of Trump pointing for this purpose. If he actually implements all the things he’s saying, there will be MANY opportunities to slap that on prices (even if it’s only in memes online).
I think his idea is that Mexico and Canada will, in response, do something about the illegal immigrants they’re sending to the US.
Yes, it’s deranged, but it’s also Trump, so what do we expect.
Who did you think I meant?
Except his wife, I’m sure. She’s one of the “good ones”.
My wife’s uncle has a huge comic book collection, and he’s getting up in years (never married; still lives in the house he grew up in). He mentioned getting it appraised, because I guess he does have some that may have some value.
Personally I’m just glad he’s thinking about this kind of stuff.
When we bought our current house, the previous owners had the basement walls covered with framed pictures of various things (I don’t remember what all they were - likely family and friends, that sort of thing). When we stopped by for the inspection or something, I noticed the trash was out, and one can that was open on the top was filled with those pictures.
That moment really reinforced the point that all the crappy knick-knacks we have laying around will likely also end up in the trash someday. We’ve definitely reduced our purchases of stuff like that and try to stick to stuff we’ll actually use.
Gen X here, too.
DeSantis is younger than me.
That’s all I’m going to say. Gooooooooooo Millennials and Gen Z. PLEASE.
HAHAHAHAHA. That is hilarious.
I just saw a headline that Trump appears to be upset because he’s spent so much time and money fighting Biden, and none fighting Harris or other potential candidates.
I laughed.
People could have voted for someone other than Biden in the primaries. That was always an option. Just because the incumbent was running again didn’t mean the voters HAD to vote for him.
Isn’t it about time to fire up your space laser?
They don’t care. The only way for a Trump aide to get fired is to mock them on SNL.
Does this sound like a man who had all he could eat?
