You have sown the wind, and now you shall reap the whirlwind.
If he actually tried to follow through, there would actually probably be a military coup.
In America.
Maybe it’s horny, but this picture of Malenia, Goddess of Rot is now my phone background.
Remember folks: China is communist in the same way that North Korea is democratic and the Nazis were socialist.
It’s just a smokescreen.
Like, I’m in that position too, except I have a touch of the 'tism to go along with it. Not so much that I can’t function, but enough to the point that socializing is exhausting. I get nothing but bots when I try online dating, and going out mostly just results in people asking me why I’m always just standing in a corner by myself.
Really, I just need a wingman, but I don’t know anybody who would be willing or able to do it; my brother and both of my closest friends live an hour-and-a-half away and my BIL has very young kids.
I’m at a point where I’m not sure if it’s ever gonna happen.
As parents, my husband and I have sole responsibility to decide how and when our children learn about the Bible and religious teachings
I’m actually surprised this is the first time I’ve heard this argument, because there’s a lot of parents who don’t necessarily object to teaching the Bible in school, but are concerned that the way it’s being taught in school differs from how it’s taught at home. A Catholic would naturally have a problem with Protestant teachings in school, not to mention all of the different Protestant denominations.
I think, ultimately, that denominational infighting is what’s going to sink this.
Arkansas used a bit of ratfuckery to keep it off the ballot here, too.
They’re probably gonna get away with it, too. And to think, we could’ve had a bona fide scientist as our governor instead of Donald Trump’s personal liar.
Walmart is a retailer, because they sell basically everything, while Kroger only sells groceries. I think that’s the distinction they’re making.
Every day is “Shut the Fuck Up Friday.”
My company doesn’t pay out for unused PTO, so my boss will periodically (but more often towards the end of the year) tell us to use our vacation days if we still have some. He’ll even call us and basically beg us to use them if we still have some in October.
I used to feel bad about calling out or taking PTO when I worked hospitality, because I knew that if I wasn’t there, someone else had to fill in. Now I do warranty repairs for major PC manufacturers, so if I call out or take PTO, some clients might be annoyed, but I’m not inconveniencing any of my coworkers. It helps that my boss is awesome and encourages us to use it or call in if we don’t feel well.
There’s compelling arguments either way. On one hand, this is a pretty naked attempt to hit at China and control the flow of the US government’s desired information.
On the other hand, the legislation isn’t technically a ban, but a forced divestment of a corporate asset. The power of the government to force the breakup, dissolution, or divestment of corporate entities is the basis of US antitrust law, and is well established.
It’s an interesting case.
I feel like a better option here would be limits on magazine capacities. Limiting internal and box magazine capacities to 5-10 rounds on semiautomatic firearms could have the same effect without it being an outright ban. Maybe have different capacities for handguns and rifles.
This is just more ammo (heh) for 2nd Amendment voters. Being a bit more clever about it could convince some of them to drop their resistance.
Meanwhile, Charles Manson is in prison, even though he never killed anyone with his own hands.
Definitely has some Rogue Trader energy to it.
I tried, but voting Democrat in Arkansas is just pissing in the wind.
We’re getting what we deserve, and reaping what we’ve sown. Don’t pity us.
