  • It’s been years since I’ve worked at Amazon, but even before Covid the cracks in the system started showing. When I joined “consultant” and “MBA” were dirty words. But by the time I was leaving these same “does nothing, demands everything” leaders were all ex-consultants with MBAs. They were all “Program/Product Managers” that seemed to just create requirements out of thin air for no reason to justify their jobs. Engineers had a high bar for promotion, while these jackasses seemed to get one every 6 months. When I left, I was told I was not wanted back and was a “non rehire”. I now get hit up every week to come back and I remind recruiters that I’m a “non rehire” and they are so desperate they are willing to look past that and give a promotion. I usually end the convo by demanding a crazy amount of money so they will stop messaging, but there is always a new recruiter every week

  • I like to shit on Elon as much as the next person, but as someone who works in aerospace mfg, if he understands 3% of SpaceX’s manufacturing and supply chain he is already in the top 99.9999999%. What they have accomplished is absolutely unfathomable and why we have to make exceptions when hiring experienced SpaceX people into our company to pay 2-3x standard pay for them. They really really know their shit and are making everyone in the industry better by leaving SpaceX.

  • Most of America doesn’t give a shit about California women’s right to an abortion, or that transgenders should be allowed in whatever bathroom they want, or that Trump is “weird”. They care about “am I better off now than I was last year?” And the answer for a lot of people is “no”. They look at the democrats brag about unemployment rates being low and that is inflation is brought under control, while most of America is still paying $5 for eggs that used to be $2. Everyday middle Americans can no longer afford simple things and their kids are worse off than they are. I know this problem wasn’t wholly created by Biden, Harris, or even Trump, but Americans felt like Harris didn’t care about their plight and that her upper class California woman self was really unrelatable. Then Harris spends a lot time trying to get celebrity endorsements and she is so out of touch that she didn’t realize celebrity endorsements actually lose you votes. People don’t care what Beyonce and Cardi B think about politics, well not the smart people or the people’s vote you actually need.

  • Apparently didn’t investigate enough. In high school I had a teacher that had a masters from Columbia and was a total moron. Made me realize that maybe Ivy League is more about who can afford it than brains. Also, journalism isn’t a history degree and it shows. You ever wonder why the best authors on historical topics all come out of Britain and have history degrees? Is well known that American “historians” post 1985 are all trash because they are journalists and not historians.

We need to stop being like “they went to Ivy League so they must be smart!” The most brilliant people I work with went to state schools and I work at a very recognizable tech company.
