I would like to see that happen. That said, my understanding is that TikTok’s data collection is enough to make other social media platforms blush (at least, it was once upon a time. They probably made it worse since then). That, coupled with China not exactly being the US’s bestie, makes me feel this is at least a start.

I remember reading a comment from a defense lawyer saying he had 3 roles depending on the situation a client was in. He could be a fighter, who would convince the world that his client was not guilty. He could be a negotiator, who would try to plea down charges or come up with a deal of some kind. This guy’s lawyer is probably taking on the third role of tour guide, where the client is so screwed all the lawyer can do is tell the client what’s happening next.

The mayor is an old white man, and Republican in case that had to be said. Even he’s saying the problem is way overblown, and walked around an apartment building where a recent incident happened by himself. Obviously I’m not a fan of the guy, but I’ll give him credit for that.
Most of the latest stories came from a city councilwoman with a background in (checks notes) owning restaurants.
His sentencing is in a couple months. Jail is still on the table. Depending on the jurisdiction and type of crime, it’s not uncommon for sentencing to occur later on while the two sides organize their pitch for what’s appropriate. Plus probation offices and such can give their own assessments.
I worked for SkyWest over 10 years ago as a ground worker. I can’t even remember what they called their fake union (wouldn’t have been SkyWest Inflight Association) but yeah. We also had some “you don’t need a union, they’re bad” propaganda as part of our training.
Honestly, it was a pretty fun job as a college student but some of that stuff made me feel a little dirty

For the type of service they are (hosting random one-off videos and series that anyone can load and optionally kicking back a portion to the content creators) - who are they competing against? If you go on the street and ask random people to name 3 streaming services that do that, you’ll likely get YouTube, “ummm”, and “I dunno”
I don’t think that’s what it means. Apples are sweet. You can make applesauce out of it without adding any sugar (no matter what kind of sugar) and it’s still pretty sweet. Throw some ripe strawberries or something in and it’s got more sweetness, but still no added sugars, just another food that happens to have naturally-occurring sugars within. You can then add more sugar (even if it was extracted from a plant with naturally-occurring sugars) to make it sweeter yet, and THAT’S where the added sugars come into play.
There’s more to it than the idea of owning a home. A 30-year fixed mortgage means your “rent” will be the same* for 30 years. Then you just… Don’t have to pay it any more. Need to move? That’s cool, you can just take that equity you’ve got and put it towards your next house.

I mean, you’re not wrong, but it’s also a legal term. If you pay someone money for something, they can always pay you back. That’s not an irreparable harm.
If (for example) you wanted to say something about someone but you have an NDA that’s in dispute, you could be prevented from saying anything until that’s settled because you can’t un-say something the same way
