Summary

The appointment of former Tesla engineer Thomas Shedd as head of the Technology Transformation Services (TTS) has disrupted the agency responsible for U.S. government IT infrastructure.

TTS employees report being summoned to sudden meetings with unidentified individuals lacking government credentials, raising concerns over security and oversight.

Shedd, aligned with Musk’s government efficiency initiatives, emphasizes cost-cutting and tech adoption.

Workers fear the changes could expose sensitive data or compromise government operations, while confusion grows over the agency’s direction under new leadership.

I wonder how difficult it would be for a bad actor to walk right into a government office with bogus credentials to “inspect” things. All this chaos is bad for national security.

The real question is how difficult would it be for a bad actor with a fake github to charm an appointee and be put into a job like this.

There’s a non-zero chance North Korea’s tech firm espionage group is trying exactly this, because these fools don’t want to wait for pesky things like security clearances.
