Don’t forget the inevitable zoomies that preclude the eating of the evil water snake. Seriously, I have to put up my dog every time I wash my car, and she whines the whole time.

Problems arise when you have a dog that would greatly prefer the hose to the peanut butter.
Why, why did you consume the oats?!
Addv4@lemmy.worldto News@lemmy.world•US economic resilience in wake of pandemic, inflation battle 'fantastic achievement'11·6 months agoHonestly, I can accept the inflation issue of prices never truly going down, but when seemingly very little is done to help offset them you start having issues. Add to that most economists loudly broadcasting that the economy is reaching new highs while a lot of middle class households have to pay more of their earnings on housing and food, and you are just sowing a lot of discontent. That is largely my issue, as irrational as it might appear at first glance to be angry with an article just saying that inflation has decreased from its highs.
Addv4@lemmy.worldto News@lemmy.world•US economic resilience in wake of pandemic, inflation battle 'fantastic achievement'14·6 months agoYes, but they don’t even mention the yearly target in the article, just broadly allude to inflation not being an issue anymore, even though it has actively driven prices up significantly for pretty much everything for the last few years. It is absolutely a pain point that is often glossed over when talking about the economy, usually when commenting how good it is.
As for the job market, I’m in tech. It’s insanely hard to get a job right now, as most places simply aren’t hiring (or worse, put up job ads but have no plan to fill them, as insane as that is). Wages have stagnated for sure, and housing has gone up in price. I haven’t actually seen many high wage growth for a lot of stuff around me either, mostly just adjusting lower end wages so that people can (mostly) afford rent. 2% inflation is better than the last couple of years, but the article linked completely downplayed all of those factors. Which is why I said it was bullshit.
Addv4@lemmy.worldto News@lemmy.world•US economic resilience in wake of pandemic, inflation battle 'fantastic achievement'18·6 months agoBasically the IMF saying that we’ve defeated inflation by keeping around 2% (forgetting to mention they are looking at a yearly number, and not talking about he last couple of years of very high inflation). Also very heavily glossing over the stagnant job market and ultimately saying the economy is doing swimmingly!
Also known as pretty obvious bullshit.

I’m luckily in a decent position financially (my bills are paid, rent, while not cheap, is paid on time), but the cost of pretty much everything has become so much higher with not much of an increase in earning. If the minimum wage were forced up it would probably help, but idk, every person I’ve talked (in person) about the issue with is pretty negative about the issue.
Addv4@lemmy.worldto News@lemmy.world•Monthly US consumer prices post first drop in four years as inflation subsides72·10 months agoBut is it really progress, or did the price of everything jack up an it has come down just a bit because companys are finally getting the blowback they deserve as consumers reduce spending?
A lot of cars with automatics and manuals have slightly different brake pedal sizes for the same models (bigger on automatics usually, takes a bit of the space a clutch might). So theoretically it makes some sense.

Not really turning the world upside down, more just showing which companies/products have been screwing you lately.
Addv4@lemmy.worldto News@lemmy.world•France vs. 'Shrinkflation': Starting July 1, All 'Shrinked' Products Must Be Labelled For Consumers31·11 months agoSo, does this apply to products that have already applied shrinkflation, or just those after July 1st?

Most nursing homes don’t meet them11·1 year agoEh, but nursing home jobs are some of the worst, most underpaid positions for nurses. Just increasing supply won’t necessarily improve the amount of nurses in homes, as most of them try to keep the absolute legal minimum amount of nurses to increase profit.
