Republicans reshaped their party from the inside via the Tea Party dorks. We’re all worse off for that, but - at this point, the only path forward is for Democrats to do the same, reshape the party by going hard left, vehemently attack the corporate Democrats (almost all of them).

Great insight, and really this is emblematic of the idiotic hyper-focus on growth, as much and as quickly as possible. It’s always better for society and broader stakeholders if growth happens organically. Growth should happen to satisfy growing demand, it should not be forced to go as fast as possible because there’s ridiculous money to be made by getting in early and inflating demand.
Every damn thing “investors” get a fuckin whiff of they ruin this way, housing being probably the worst (repeat!) offender. We have to figure out how to disincentivize this behavior. It guarantees toxic trash for industries in their wake and just further enriches the worst among us.

Pissing off HR is such a colossally self-defeating move in almost every possible context. I actually really hate that’s the case, but boy is it welcome here, these folks are really stepping in some shit. HR lead in the first place, and of the fucking IRS? Not to mention every ladder-climbing prick who changes positions in those orgs’ mid to upper levels has to make some big splash in their new role, so they can scheme their way to the next one. AKA each of these decision-making dickheads are incentivized to blow shit up with each new role, and with the express intention of not being there when the chickens come to roost. Avasarala herself (not in this clip of course) is dope enough to merit a re-watch, and there are so many cool characters and excellent performances, the writing is great, the universe is great, fuck. I’m not even a TV or really movie watcher.
Members of his previous administration complained about his tendency to just kind of agree with the last person who spoke to him on a given topic / day. I assume it’s mostly due to his love of (need for) flattery - he comes out of each meeting feeling great and wanting to endorse whatever that person was saying.
Yep, that’s been our experience. We have a niece who got a concussion from a bully (aluminum water bottle) and really nothing changed (so her parents had to find a way to get her off the bus). Two school years back and in a different area, there were so few drivers that my kiddo would come home at completely unpredictable times, anywhere from “on-time”, up to 2 hours late, with very little communication. And we could basically see the school from our house.
Needless to say we no longer see the school bus as viable. Our society can’t even get our kids to and from school in a functional way anymore. Things are really bad.
