My pay has gone up every year, but each year I end up poorer as my bills eat the extra, plus some more!
Why, a hexvex of course!

Ah the eternal war of the dawnies and the duskies…
I think a lot of the issue is that it’s possible to shift to a 24 hour economy with morning and night shifts, but (like remote working pre-covid) we hear a lot of “it’s not possible”.
Have you considered upgrading to…
3 teas no lunch is even better - especially if you brew your tea to the consistency of tar…
I mean, if I were to throw out lines such as “if only women didn’t demand so much”, I’d be guilty of misogyny regardless of who I implied the demand was levied against.
The misandry here is “men love to commit murder”, not the implication of who is murdered.
Ah, misandry, my old friend.
Looks like I just failed the “responsible adult” test for more than half my life!
It was already janky when I found it - to be fair there isn’t much out there about bad faith DMCA because the law is so badly written.
So this is what declaring war on Italy looks like.
Huh, neat.
I think, and here the key word is think as this goes beyond my mandate so to speak, it’s more an act of resistance. A bit like protesting, but with less risk.
I’d say the aim is to rallying over retribution, to push those “good men” into fighting more strongly. It’s not a bad tactic, it’ll be interesting to see how it pans out.
It’s also not really that widespread, searches for it are up because it’s making the rounds is all.
The first time you say no to someone you really want to be with, that is when the 4B life starts. Till then, it’s just business as usual (I really hope you don’t sleep with/date people you don’t like!).
The life continues when you see them with someone else, and realise some things can’t be undone. People move on, they’re not static NPCs you can just reload and date later.
It goes ever on, life stops for no-one and it runs it’s course far too soon. To those who choose that path, make sure you know where it leads.
Edit: nice catch apostrofail! I’ll keep no-one though, I feel they need that special dash bond ;)
I dunno about a fun game to play, but it’s a really neat way to explore Markov chains!
Yes and no; I’ve met some people who were great to date but hell to live with.
A good relationship starts with both people knowing what they want - and continual contact helps determine if the other person is being honest about what they want. Post 35/30, this process is often a lot faster, and dating skill matters less than ability not to annoy the person you’re suddenly around 24/7.
If it matches from the start, or a compromise grows, you’re in for a winner. Otherwise, back to the sea of the undead you go, no matter how good your dating skill!
Intention and reality are two different things - although I can’t say I ever managed casual dating for 2 years! Usually most folks are in a relationship after 1.
I think it goes further than that - post 35 (post 30 really) there is a lot more pressure to shift from casual dating to a relationship at a faster pace.
Life experience talking here too, it isn’t just “being upfront”, it’s also being willing to move at a faster pace.
The real secret to dating after 35 - don’t.
Folks are not looking to “date”: they’re after long term commitment OR quick hook ups. The middle ground really vanishes when you get older!
Fun UK fact - we use a different ranking system for lecturers:
Lecturer Senior Lecturer Reader Professor
That means, at some point, someone has been a “Reader in X at Reading”.
One of the videos you can hear “shooter down” before he gets up. Elderly, near death experience, and monumental arrogance would help explain his reaction pretty well!
Shooting him isn’t the way - but I can see why someone was scared enough to think it was. Just remember kids, voting for Biden isn’t just voting against trumpler - it’s saying you would literally prefer someone who is probably senile overhim. It’s a solid insult, and you should go out there on polling day to make sure he hears it.
So, I’ve seen a lot of people who were extremely sharp as PhD students become blunted as soon as 9–5 starts.
A lot of decline among adults can likely be traced back to increased cognitive load during working hours, which chips away at intelligence over time as folks burn out.
With kids it’s harder to place, maybe it’s walking the tightrope that is modern social interactions?
