Plague massively increased economic situation of peasants in western Europe.
Where i live we have a system where if you take sick days, they are paid 80%. 20% reduction applies only to the days you were sick. Once I got sick at the end of a month and took the last 3 days of the month and first 2 days of the next one off and my mother in law freaked out I’m about to loose 20% of 2 month’s salaries. She was and is still convinced that 20% deduction applies to a whole month worth of salary even if you take one day off that month. She almost never takes sick days and she works in a hospital… She self medicates and works with patients even when she has a transmittable diseases. Best of luck to those who have serious health problems and then get a fucking flu on top of everything from hospital staff. She is 60+ and reading the law to her doesn’t change her mind. A couple years ago she had more serious health problems and took a week off for the first time in decades, even after getting a paycheck reduced only by 5% and not 20% her perception of this issue didn’t change. She misunderstood that system once 40 years ago and she is going to take that misunderstanding to ger grave. Real world has no influence on her beliefs.
What’s his fucking issue with Ukrainians? Is it all about the time when Zelenski didn’t help him produce dirt on Hunter Biden? There is around a million of Ukrainians in Poland right now and crime related incidents involving them are rare. They are a net benefit to society. A million more tax payers. Unfortunately due to incompatibility of their education system and slight language barrier they do jobs below their education level but their contribution is undisputable. Quick influx of them hastened problems with housing affordability in largest cities but it’s not their fault that the government has no strategy to combat high housing prices, without them the situation would still arise but a couple years later. I’ll take 240k more Ukrainian immigrants than 240k American tourists anytime.
I don’t know his situation but I think primary residence up to certain value shouldn’t be taxed at all. There’s a huge difference between an old man living alone in a house he had built for his family 60 years ago and an “investor” who owns entire neighbourhoods. Unfortunately, where I live a property tax on as far as I remember 4th and all above residential properties has been proposed and people who oppose it the most are pensioners who live in the only property they own. Right wing media can just outright lie to people telling them the tax is going to be on every property and people go on vote against their own interests.
That’s a weird cult they have going on there. I’m quite sure people weren’t this crazy 20 years ago. In my country we are having elections this year and out of curiosity I watched debates from the 90s, I was astonished that there was at least some discourse, conversation and that politicians were talking about real problems while bringing up real data. Idiocracy seems more real than ever.
