The other post had it just as bad if not worse before it was removed entirely.
I tried to bring up the point that a system where we kill CEOs because we don’t like their business practices isn’t going to fix anything and the downvotes immediately poured in.
Either this is just the way that a lot of people on Lemmy think, or there’s some concerted effort/psyop trying to stir discontent among the users here.
For a bit there I was doubting if I even wanted to be associated with Lemmy anymore, but at least it looks like the mods have been cleaning up the worst comments.
Well, there is the Budapest memorandum: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Budapest_Memorandum
In exchange for Ukraine giving up their nuclear arsenal, we’re supposed to help them in the case of a nuclear attack.
It really bothers me when journalists don’t list out which laws specifically were passed/signed.
Even better if they could link to the bill text itself, yet instead they just link to a similar article on their own site.
Spiritual.

Found the whole thing that includes when they are walking out on stage: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jgod-nqFEEc
Edit: There was a bit of hot mic somewhere nearby so you could hear a little bit before he sat down:
RS: “Hi Mister Trump, just take a seat over there, thank you.”
DT: “Uh, how are you? How are you?”
RS: “Good”
Music dies and mic turns on:
RS: “Mr President, we so appreciate you giving us an hour of your time. I want to start by addressing the elephant in the room, sir. A lot of people did not think that it was appropriate for you to be here today. You have pushed false claims about some of your rivals from Nikki Haley to former President Barack Obama saying…”
After reading the title, I thought that his son was talking to Trump about Pokémon.
Turns out, it was Vance talking to Trump on the phone and his kid wanted to talk to his father about Pikachu.
Video of him on the roof just before everything went down (video blurs out the shooter during/after death):

You can hear people yelling, “He’s got a gun!” seconds before the shooting happens.
Another angle of people yelling “He’s got a gun” (shaky cameraman, good for audio only): https://x.com/BNONews/status/1812327502028669328
Another witness that was also trying to point out the shooter to the authorities: https://x.com/BNONews/status/1812311392675914015
I see a lot of outlets claiming that the FBI identified him, but I don’t see any actual statements from the FBI themselves (beyond a statement asking for more information from the public). Skimming through the various articles with his name and I can’t find any links to an actual source either. I might have missed a video somewhere.
It could be that the name is correct, and this guy was baiting journalists into showing his picture and lying about his real name.
Looks like Thomas Matthews Crooks is not the right guy
Edit 2: but there are a lot of images/videos of the wrong guy going around.
He posted a video saying “you’ve got the wrong guy” but looks like he’s been talking to lawyers and decided to make his whole account private now".

Edit: Maybe? It could be that the name is correct, but the guy you see in the video is definitely not him.
Plus an image of some blood on the bleacher from a live stream that kept running:
One of the attendees in the bleachers was hit:

News is also saying that 2 are dead: https://news.sky.com/story/shots-fired-at-donald-trump-rally-as-former-president-rushed-off-stage-13177651
Butler County District attorney told the Associated Press (AP) that a shooter was dead and that a rally attendee had also been killed.
This doesn’t sound like it was staged.

So, roughly a radius of ~415 Miles (667km).
Corporations are big into lobbying. “Studies” like this help them to convince lawmakers to make decisions that benefit them.
In this case, they might not be able to easily lower minimum wage, but they can say that it’s been a burden and try to get a break in other ways.
Edit in response to the edited comment above:
Poe’s Law, should have included a “/s” at least.

This is definitely out of the ordinary for this particular county (from what I can tell).
Only 1 shark attack has been recorded in this county in the last ~140 years.

Also a fun fact, while most of the shark attacks (in the U.S.) happen in Florida, you’re very likely to survive. (About 15-30 attacks per year, and only 1 fatality every few years if I’m remembering correctly).
However, while you’re much less likely to get attacked in California, if you do get attacked, you’re far more likely to die. (About 1-2 shark attacks every year and a fatality every other year if, I’m remembering correctly).

From the article:
A lawsuit before the Maryland Supreme Court seeks to stop the sale of a parking lot in Bethesda that currently covers the remains of a historically Black cemetery to developers.
The Bethesda African American Cemetery Coalition argues that since the land is a burial ground the sale of the land requires court approval if the land is to be used for another purpose.
“This issue is really critical because right now there are literally hundreds of African American burial grounds around the United States that are in various stages of desecration,” Steven Lieberman, the attorney who is representing the Coalition told USA TODAY in February.
For anyone curious what exactly those ties were:
Balmaseda previously served as an intern in the office of Rubio […] and worked as an organiser for DeSantis’s 2018 campaign for governor.
I think, at this point, anything the health insurance companies do that actually looks good, will make us jump to that conclusion.
