  • They’re putting the notion of assassinating the president out there into the weak minds of their listeners, who will take that information and do with it what they will.

I do understand they can do multiple things at once even if they can barely walk and chew gum, and I would like if they were wiped from the face of the earth, but I would much rather that they turn their attention towards the president, instead of putting their attention on trans people or whatever racial minority comes up week by week to rile up the base. The president has a large amount of protection on him at all times, the chances that any right wing nutjob can target him effectively strike me as shockingly low, and if they did target him, then probably you’d see something actually happen to prosecute them. Basically nobody else has that same level of protection.

  • This is the case for basically every issue, yeah, this is generally why telling people to start with politics at the local level isn’t really a great suggestion for most people.

You can’t fund inter-city trains at the local level, really, that has to be done at the state level at the very least, usually in a state like california, only, and usually it has to be done with federal funding. If you don’t have inter-city trains or public transit, then it’s hard to make a walkable city. Basically what I’m saying is that it’s not atomizable, it has to be integrated with the rest of the network, which is why even the best US cities are pretty car-centric.

This is true for a litany of other political issues besides just public transit.

  • But, like, a man could still kill you, right? Is that better than being eaten?

I mean generally being eaten entails entrails leaking out, whereas getting killed could entail any number of things. Neck snap, choked out, slit throat, whatever. I dunno if your average idiot man is gonna be as proficient of a killer as a bear, even if they happen to be a murderer or like, just evil, right, so, I dunno. Kind of a toss up. Me personally, I would rather not have my guts spilled out, ribcage crushed, spine snapped, bones gnawed on while I’m still conscious, slowly lose blood and lose consciousness over the course of 30 minutes to an hour. I mean I guess theoretically a man could do those things too, but I dunno many men that could. Maybe like, the mike tyson of 40 years ago?

I guess the argument I’m making hinges on the idea that humans are generally bad at killing in a physiological sense, and their need to kind of, up themselves in the game means that they tend to get filtered into a bunch of more painless and efficient approaches relative to the kind of uncaring cruelty of nature more generally. But then I dunno, humans also have a capacity for needless cruelty and torture, so I’d also be betting my chances that I don’t get shafted and stuck with like, a super jacked serial killer that can torture me with their bare hands, which there’s probably only like 2 or 3 of in the world. Maybe more if you include government contracted ones.

  • okay real question for the omega libs here: where do you see people that are like. worth taking seriously, right, that are worth engaging with (maybe that’s the major filter that I’m blocking out here since most people seem incapable of choosing who they actually want to engage with), who are the people that are worth engaging with that aren’t going to vote for the old zionist rapist guy? I mean, the democractic one? I’m pulling your chain there but like for real, where do you see the opposition that’s actually real?

Most of the shit that I’ve seen, still, is like, people rightfully saying “oh, biden sucks, here’s why”, and then people bringing up “trump’s worse”. Like okay, just because I hate pancakes doesn’t mean I suddenly love waffles, you know? Food analogy I know I know, but really, like, where’s the real opposition coming from? I’m discounting the super pro-biden turbolibs also, because they annoy me with their smugness. So far as I can tell, the people who are fervently anti-biden to the point of like, idiocy, right, weren’t going to vote for him basically in any context, regardless of you know like damage control strategies, or the fact that voting didn’t take that much effort in totality compared to other activism they might do, or like, oh, could they vote as a protest in a non-swing state that’s basically guaranteed commitment to biden already as a kind of protest vote with questionable utility, that sort of thing. Most of the “opposition” I’ve seen hasn’t been actually calculated about any of that, because none of that stuff is really very controversial, or, it shouldn’t be. Most of them have just been like, not worth bothering with. Probably not russian bots or trolls like everyone would constantly say, because that’s also fucking idiotic, but probably, they’re just stupid people who aren’t worth wasting your time on.

Basically why the fuck is everyone wasting their time on this like, stupid bullshit? How come every election, in equal measure, I see “vote blue no matter who” imbeciles trotted out in lock step, to shout down at “I will never vote for anyone because I’m a posadist accelerationist” terminally online idiots? There’s no nuance or real depth to the conversation, or strategy, it’s just like. Both sides can construct a strawman, and then basically get away with it because, on the vastness of the internet, said strawman is guaranteed to exist, especially if I make it kind of a vague ghost that I’m punching at. And then because of that, nobody ever has to actually like, work out any of their arguments in depth, because they’re too busy kind of churning forth the cycle of idiocy.

I dunno, maybe digg 3.0 is just not conducive to good political discourse.

  • I don’t know if that’s true

I’m like 90% sure it’s not, it’s just one of those things that people do as a kind of “common sense” solution, because dogs are generally seen as a pretty disposable object. Like how they used to kill, and maybe still do kill idk, any animal that kills or attacks a person, just kind of on the basis that “that there animal is a man killer. ain’t no goin’ back from that, it’s got a taste for it now.”. Just dumb shit.

  • You know generally I’m against the death penalty and I’m all up and down threads like these advocating for that not to be the case, because, you know, people get raised in certain environments, we can’t really know whether or not someone’s really committed a crime sometimes, blanket death penalty is bad, yadda yadda ya. You know, consistency in principles.

but fuck me man this lady needs to be crushed by a big rock or something

  • Me, laughing as the idiot americans will be banned from the app, and only the pure VPN users will remain:

No but seriously this is pretty dogshit stupid. The only people happy about this are the omega boomers and pick mes that hated tiktok anyways for what are basically unrelated reasons. Otherwise they’d be equally calling for a larger set of privacy enforcements that encompass all social media sites, which I agree should happen. This seems, to me, to be pretty transparently a protectionist racket. Only we shall control the data of americans, only we shall track them.

And then there’s also the people saying that any social media getting banned is kind of a net positive. Fuck you mate what the hell? You’re on a pretty explicitly manipulative social media platform right now, it’s just one that you’re able to tailor to your own biases. Probably it’s a net negative to have less propaganda from a variety of sources. Both sides my ass, I guess, fuck your corporate-state disinformation, I got mine.

I dunno. I watched this guy that makes sandwiches, back when I used tiktok. I thought he was pretty cool. I think it would be a shame to see his content get disappeared, which tiktok already has a pretty huge problem with.

The benefit of tiktok and short form content is that you can watch it anywhere, and almost anyone with a phone at this point can produce it. Those of you who hate vertical video content should understand that a phone is the optimal platform on which to consume it, and you should probably be happy for that, because it’s not going to outright disappear from the internet otherwise, as we saw before all of this had started. You miss the forest for the trees when you call for heavy-handed outright bans of this stuff. The corporate influence, I can understand getting rid of that, but the platforms themselves, there’s legitimately value there. Twitter as a microblogging platform has been used for actual reporting, and even as it exists now, it’s being used for that. If you were to get rid of youtube, you would be eliminating a frankly staggering amount of information available out there that, sure, might exist in other places, but that both takes a large risk and relies on google MORE to feed you that correctly when you use a search engine, which as we’ve seen recently, hasn’t been the case. You could do the same with reddit. Delete reddit, and you are deleting a metric fuck ton of information on some valuable stuff, you’re deleting a fuck ton of internet culture. These platforms need to be disentangled from their corporate overlords and made more free to own, browse, and use, not outright destroyed.

  • I hate the short form content trend it started

    always has been, with vine.

its algorithm based content delivery systems that every other app copied but worse

always has been, with twitter, facebook, instagram, snapchat, youtube, uhhhhh… vine, yeah, just mentioned that one. discord, tinder. literally everything.

I hate the sexualisation of minors and peddling that content to pedos

Look at what the great adpocalypse of youtube was ostensibly about, then look at what it was really about. In any case, always has been.

I hate the clout chasing in general

    Always has been.

I hate tiktok trends and “challenged”

Assuming you mean “challenge”, you could check out the harlem shake, the ice bucket challenge, god, there’s a lot of them honestly. Gangnam style. I think probably this is just like, meme culture more broadly, which, say it with me now: always has been.

I hate the general brainrot it has caused.

    And finally, always has been.
