  • It can even be enforced, but it doesn’t matter, because there’s no real drawback from these rulings. He can sign 100 executive orders a day, and that will go to 100 courtrooms and take them weeks or more to sort out.

He can just keep pumping these out all day, it’s a “throw as much shit at the wall as possible” situation, some of it is going to stick.

  • That’s an interesting point. I’m sure you’re right, it would not trigger anger fits on so many people, by a long shot.

It still irks me tough, because all planes fly (or they wouldn’t be a plane), that’s a defining characteristic. But planes in general don’t crash, and conflating the two just adds to the fear of planes and does very little for our overall safety.

I’m not arguing they’re not dangerous, because they certainly are. But I think the important discussion is why they can crash, and how we can prevent that.

  • My problem with this post is exactly the same I have with any broad assumptions over a poorly defined group: taken as fact, they’re false.

Of course it’s meant to make a point, and a very valid one. But I’ll point out that there are many places in the world where a young woman can go out for a walk at night without fear of never being seen again, and it’s not because there’s fewer men, so perhaps we should focus on the conditions to achieve this?

  • Well you can hear the same song on repeat 272 times and not be autistic, but as far as I can tell, this could be one of the diagnostic criteria.

From time to time, there’s some new K-pop that my wife goes crazy over, and every single car ride after that will have that song playing multiple times. It’s not on loop only because I would consider throwing us off a cliff if the playlist didn’t have at least 19 other songs on it. :)

  • From the article:

Restaurants and bars did robust hiring in September, adding 69,000 jobs last month, more than quadrupling their monthly average of 14,000 over the past 12 months, the Labor Department said. The healthcare sector added 45,000 jobs while the government contributed 31,000.

Other sectors adding jobs in September included social assistance (27,000) and construction (25,000).

I’m curious about the healthcare jobs, and if these include insurance paper pushers.

  • People here be discussing the wrong thing, or am I the only one thinking that patenting a roll of paper is incredibly stupid?

It’s a damn roll of paper. How much of a genius do you have to be to come up with that? People have been doing it for millennia, the only difference is that it used to be so expensive that no one would think of whipping their butts with it.
