I realized journalism was truly dead a few years back when I noticed that most news articles online are just a bunch of Twitter posts talking about the headline. I fantasize about writing a movie where Edward R. Murrow comes back from the dead as a demon and just goes around slaughtering lazy journalists, which forces other journalists to actually do their fucking jobs.

Republicans would have to win two thirds of state legislatures with MAGA loyalists to even bring a vote to overturn the 22nd. There is no way that happens legally, and Republicans know it. If they plan on a third Trump term, my bet is they will either be ignoring the 22nd altogether, or enacting emergency powers to suspend the entire Constitution indefinitely.

Let’s be clear: This type of person eats a very specific kind of potato salad that consists only of potatoes, mayo, and the tears of every customer service manager that dares cross her path.

Potato salad is like chili and meatloaf. It’s not a recipe so much as it is a formula with many variables. You can make it boring and bland, or you can make it exciting and delicious. There are no rules except for what’s in the name.

I love potato salad because I make it how I like it, which includes a lot of spices and vegetables and other stuff. I don’t think I’ve ever made it the same way twice.

In this past election, it’s kind of a non-issue. Both parties have always had it in their rules that if the nominee drops out after the primaries, the party can select a new nominee without holding another primary. And to be honest, it’s an understandable rule, at least within the scope of an overall shitty system. People generally aren’t going to show out for primaries, then watch a nominee drop out, then show out for yet another round of primaries, and then show out for a general election. It’s hard enough just to get people to vote once.

Prior to 2024 though, the DNC and DCCC putting their fingers on the scale to fuck Sanders and elevate Clinton is unforgivable.

They have no case. A case is something you bring to a court, which they refused to do. What they have is hearsay, which does not justify the suspension of due process under the US Constitution.

Judges also ruled that he couldn’t black-bag legal residents and citizens and send them to prison camps in El Salvador. He ignored the judges and did it anyway. Judges then said he had to return the people he kidnapped. He ignored them again.

A law is only a law if it is enforced. Until I see that fat orange fuck being perp walked through the Rose Garden in handcuffs, laws don’t mean shit.

The optimistic side of me believes this can happen. MAGA has tied themselves and their movement very tightly to Trump. Not to conservatism in general, not to any kind of policy in specific, but to the unique personality of Trump. They tried with DeSantis, and he flamed out hard. They’re trying with Vance, but he’s such an awkward goof that it’ll never work.

I don’t think the MAGA virus can survive in another host, and I think that’s why they are trying to rush into full on Fascism while Trump is still around. Once he’s gone, the Republican party is going to eat itself in the power vacuum.

This is the outcome I hope for. The other possibilities are a lot more messy.

They won’t stop unless someone makes them stop. That’s how movements like this work, every single time. They never wind down on their own. They have to constantly keep increasing the cruelty and extremism, or else their base will see weakness and abandon them. However bad you think it is now, it’s only going to get worse, unless someone puts an end to it. Historically, there are only a few ways a fascist movement has ever been stopped, and none of them are pretty.

The Trump administration already interfered by getting Tate released from jail in Romania.

Trump himself directly interfered with the Romanian investigation, no question. That’s not the same thing as the DoJ interfering with the SDNY investigation. Two separate things.

I have more than enough probable cause to be suspicious here.

Suspicion is not evidence that the DoJ has done anything to interfere with the SDNY investigation. In fact, it looks more like Trump/Bondi are not interfering specifically because they don’t need to. Tate was gonna get popped by US law enforcement eventually, and was likely banking on Trump saving him. Since he’s a liability, all Trump has to do is nothing.

What evidence do I have that the Keebler elves are not interfering? Proving a negative is a fools game. If evidence comes to light that the DoJ is interfering, then I’ll gladly criticize them for doing so.

The DoJ didn’t open this investigation. SDNY did. DoJ is just not interfering.
