And they make less money on that than the dealer financing options. No surprise they were being pushy about it.

Contextually, saying ‘was’ is inclusive of the past and present. But to your credit, saying ‘I am’ would have been more precise.
My quote is a line from a famous comedian, Mitch Hedberg, who was doing a bit about drugs when he said ‘he used to do drugs’, paused, and then said ‘I still do but I used to too’. It’s a play to subvert expectations because when someone says they ‘used to do something’ they usually mean that they don’t anymore.
june@lemmy.worldto News@lemmy.world•Trump posts bizarre solar eclipse ad – with his head plunging US into darknessEnglish2·1 year agoShe was a lot better before. She ended up with a ruptured disc in her lumbar in like 91 or something and the only treatment back then was a discoctomy, which is a brutal surgery that usually leads to a cascade of disc herniation and rupturing. She ended up having 11 surgery’s over the next 25 years and during that time became very addicted to her pain killers. Then, in 09 she got breast cancer which has been pretty hard on her body, and has left her with literal brain damage today. She always had toxic traits, but her sickness has made it so much worse over the last 15 years in particular.
To boot, we were fundie Christians and I had no idea I was queer, I only knew I never fit in and couldn’t figure out why. I was so isolated i never had anyone that could model what it might be like to be queer or to understand myself. Add in some mild bipolar, ADHD, and a touch of autism and it’s a recipe for failure to self identify. It wasn’t until my 30’s that I started putting the pieces together that maybe I’m not a boy and oh I actually like boys too.
Most of my misery and trauma growing up was more religious than anything.

june@lemmy.worldto News@lemmy.world•Trump posts bizarre solar eclipse ad – with his head plunging US into darknessEnglish5·1 year agopart of me will always be dying to know how deep into the cult she sank.
It’s the reason I still stalk her Facebook lol
I broke contact with my mom 2 years ago on my birthday when she (middle school dropout) decided to tell me I (a college grad who learned how to research validity and reliability of various claims and sources) am a gullible fool for taking the Covid vaccine and that I needed to get on YouTube to do my research. It was the final straw of disrespect piled on a thousand other small things.
I don’t miss her.
june@lemmy.worldto News@lemmy.world•Trump posts bizarre solar eclipse ad – with his head plunging US into darknessEnglish19·1 year agoMy mother posted this unironically to her Facebook feed. Said ‘we need to eclipse the bad guys’.
Times like this I wish I was still talking to her and she knew I was queer.

I’ll spend my whole paycheck on tickets this week.
(It’s funny because I’m unemployed and am not getting paychecks right now)

june@lemmy.worldto News@lemmy.world•Multigenerational housing is coming back in a big way. Americans used to live in multigenerational homes. We’re starting to, againEnglish31·1 year agoAnd those of us with poor parents, or who are estranged from our parents, or who otherwise have some barrier between us and our parents either have to bootstrap our ways to survival or die.
I wish I had married someone rich instead of the daughter of two school teachers. But I’m lucky she had generous rich extended family that gave us enough to buy the house I now own before we divorced.
Now I’m unemployed after being laid off 3 months ago with no safety net and no strong prospects for work that will keep me in the house, even with a roommate paying rent. I have nowhere to go and no one to support me if I lose the house.
june@lemmy.worldto News@lemmy.world•The home insurance market is crumbling. These owners are paying the priceEnglish4·1 year agoThese folks are losing their insurance. But even those of us who live in safe areas with little to no history or indicators of disaster are still seeing rates skyrocket. Mine were raised 30% this year and I have no risk of flooding or wildfire, and very low risk of storm or earthquake damage. Crime in my neighborhood is the lowest in the region (kind of surprising considering it’s very working class mixed with lots of low income housing), and has no history of damage to the property at all. But still, 30% hike with no reason given. My car insurance jumped 25% too.
Yea, they really are a throuple.
I do wonder how insurance works for them too, are they treated like two individuals or do they get the benefit of having a single body and are treated as an individual?

june@lemmy.worldto News@lemmy.world•Report: Boeing plane that blew out door plug over Portland was set for an inspection but flew with passengers anywayEnglish1·1 year agoWell that’s a hell of a development. This whole thing has been laid solely at the feet of Boeing when it was also Alaska’s fault.
It started with the fucked up aircraft production.
The finished with Alaska choosing not to perform maintenance it knew it needed.
The good news is that this has brought to light some major deficiencies in both the aircraft manufacturing and airline maintenance failings. Two things that would not have been highlighted has Alaska done their due diligence and discovered this issue when they should have.
Backflip.
I imagine that means my body won’t hurt and I’ll have the athleticism to do a few backflips until I’ve done them. If I don’t do them, then my body is just suddenly healthy and pain free.
At 40, I’ll take that shit.
