If you’re spreading racist lies that are picked up and weaponised as a tool to stoke racist hatred in service of ending democracy to commit a series of genocides, you should fear for your safety - we call those consequences - morally good ones that benefit society at that.

This kind of stochastic terrorism should carry prison time.

Idk, I think it’s probably just a really bad joke from a queer person of color. Doesn’t necessarily means she’s a bigot, just a little off

Read her comment. There were no jokes in it.

You can be a gay person of color and a bigot at the same time. It’s pretty stupid, but it happens.

          what in there indicates animosity?

          Again, shit jokes are shit.

Everything in the article seems to point to an individual who was too comfortable making a shit joke about a community she had I graduated herself into

At no point in her excuses did she say she was joking. She said she is gay and a POC, that she is scared of the consequences of her actions, and that if she was Haitian she would be upset.

She actually never even says she was sorry, just weasel words like “it just exploded” and “this was not my intent” and “was never meant to be seen outside of Springfield.”

She minimizes, back tracks and redirects blame, but never once says the words “I’m sorry” or “it was a joke that got out of hand.”

Those are the actions of a bigot running away from consequences, not a person who made an earnest mistake and is remorseful.

Newton told Newsguard that Lee’s Facebook post misstated her story, and that the owner of the missing cat was “an acquaintance of a friend” rather than her daughter’s friend.

Lmao the neighbor who she supposedly heard it from said she heard it wrong, but not about the cat supposedly being eaten, but who the correct owner is.

How can this story not be true? I heard about it on facebook from someone who says she heard about it from her neighbour, who heard about it from her daughter, who heard about it from a friend.

This stranger’s neighbour’s daughter’s friend saw Haitians carving up her cat with her own eyes.

Do people honestly have no ability to spot a bullshit rumor? She didn’t even claim she saw it with her own eyes, or that she knows someone who saw it with their own eyes. She literally says it was a friend of a friend of a friend.
