Saw tons of comments the last couple days about “Where’s the NRA to defend trans gun owners huh??!?”
Well here’s your answer - they said 2nd Amendment rights are for everyone and due process matters. Sometimes being cynical is just hurting your perspective.
Yah, there’s a large difference between cynicism and realism.
They’re defending their market, not the rights of trans Americans. If they actually cared about freedom and the constitution they would be uniting every gun owner to march on Washington and demand a president who follows the constitution, you know, the whole THING the NRA was supposed to represent.
Sure, but they’re not defending trans people, they defending guns.
Well they arent a trans lobbying group. They’re a gun ownership and gun rights lobbying group.
Eh if all Trans people where black the NRA would have a different tune.
If your grandma had wheels she could be a Go-Bot, so what?

Ah, but this isn’t arbitrary!
This shouldn’t surprise anyone. The NRA (or its political arm) is a lobbying group for the gun industry. Banning any group from buying guns hurts the gun industry.
They didn’t complain, or at least loud enough for me to hear, when he banned some gun accessories on his last term. Was it bump stocks or something?
None of his base did, despite losing their shit about Obama and Joe “going to do it”, even though they didn’t
Especially a group of people who suddenly realize they’re in danger and are scooping up guns in large numbers right now.
Ive said for years, the moment the GOP gets enough power they will be alllll for gun control.
They banned guns when the black Panthers had them.
First shot across the bow at taking guns away from Trump/MAGA dissenters and political opponents. They start with a group they don’t think will incite too many, particularly the generally pro-2A Americans. Next it’ll be gays, then anyone with any connection to antifa, then just Democrats in general.
My sister is looking at rifles now to complement her carry pistol and my friend’s wife has OK’d him getting a handgun for their home from this news.
Many trans people are white.
I remember the NRA’s response to the murder of Philando Castile.
You’re one of the largest and most powerful lobbying groups in the country. Let’s see them actually put that lobbying to work. Then I’ll believe they’re actually against this.
Wait, did the NRA just do something that wasn’t shitty for once? Broken clocks, amr?

Let’s be honest here, support is s strong word and we all know the limited support is limited to white trans people.
We’ll see… first it’s trans, then it’s gays, then it’s immigrants and now the nra lost a bunch of customers. They’re thinking big picture.
“Even” the NRA? They’re the last ones who would support a gun ban.
Nope, the “even” is important. The NRA supports gun control when minority groups are buying guns.
In contrast to the NRA’s rigid opposition to gun control in today’s America, the organization fought alongside the government for stricter gun regulations in the 1960s. This was part of an effort to keep guns out of the hands of African-Americans as racial tensions in the nation grew. The NRA felt especially threatened by the Black Panthers, whose well-photographed carrying of weapons in public spaces was entirely legal in the state of California, where they were based.

Even in recent years the NRA has been mixed at best when it comes to minority gun ownership. Think of all those cases where a cop shoots a black man because “they thought they saw a gun.” Whenever that happens, it’s crickets from the NRA. The cops claim the right to shoot black gun owners, even just perceived black gun owners all the time. Yet the NRA rarely comments on such cases. They should be shouting from the rooftops in such cases. Why the hell does a cop seeing a gun give them permission to shoot someone?
Liberals need to stop vilifying the NRA and realize they are good.
Where are all those commenters who said the NRA is anti LGBTQ?
