They’re just never going to bring the House back in session…
They can’t control their own party. And they’re not going to pass anything by law. There’s zero incentive for Republicans to bring it back.
After the omnibus you could tell they checked out for the year. This was planned all along. They’re done with democracy and funded their personal army.
“If conservatives become convinced that they cannot win democratically, they will not abandon conservatism. The will reject democracy.”
Those things run on fiscal years, not calendar years.
But if the House resumes, they have to sit the new members, which means there’s enough to force a procedural vote on releasing the Epstein list.
They’d rather prevent that then do the single filibuster proof bill a year they can get past the Senate.
trump will just keep doing shit and fighting in court than try to pass real laws.
The risk for them is all this combined with the DNC finally pulling their heads out of their ass and fighting for down allot spots again.
We’re not just gonna see a blue wave, we’re gonna see an actual.progressive wave of people who want to fight fascism.

As much as I’d like to see the birth of an actual progressive party, I think it’s more likely we’ll see the birth of a more moderate version of a Republican party; voters that would today vote for a Bush Jr President over a trump.
I think we’ll see some real progressives, but billionaire elites like Koch, Thiel, etc. are going to let that happen over their dead bodies. They’ve come this far, and they’re damn sure not going to let some idiot kids force them to give up even 1% more of their power/money. Until they’re dealt with appropriately (legally), we’re not going to have real progressive change.

Deal.

You know? My tinfoil hat says this is why Trump wants to push the Insurrection Act through. Then when it’s pushed through, they can resume the session and when they try and bring the vote for releasing the files he has all Dems arrested for treason.
I think it’ll be widespread violence. We’re seeing death throes.
Jog my memory a little. But didn’t she heckle Biden when he said Trump would take away Obamacare?
That was when the only people supposed to be at risk were brown people. Now it’s her family on the chopping block. Totally different!
I imagine one of her stipulations would be to ban all trans healthcare.
Gavin Newson liked this.
Was absolutely lovely (/s) to have a conversation with my doctor today about what my options would be if they do that. Government so small that it fits in my doctors office. I’ve been on HRT since Obama was in office.
Ive been on hrt since 2016, so same. I’ve been stocking up on my estrogen (also switching to injections and lowering my spiro dose, which the higher dose turned out to be needless since my lower dose keeps my T down super low) so that I can at least have that for a year or more. Then there’s DIY. Such lovely conversations to have about losing care because the government doesn’t want us to exist.
Did the money dry up, Magic the Gathering?
Yea right.
I never, in a million years, thought MTG would be a voice of reason.
Um, well, does it matter?
Conspiracy theory: if she continues like this in a few weeks she gets sniped by some extremist and becomes a martyr
Why? Dems have less than 50 votes and need 60. It’s not like she’s the tie breaker or anything. Plus she’s already talked extensively about the Epstein files and how they need to be released even if Trump is in them. Idk why dumb ass conspiracy theories like this are all over Lemmy.
What conspiracy theory? She can vote in the house, she can’t vote in the Senate. Although I don’t believe there is anything on the Democrats budget bill that couldn’t in theory pass reconciliation. So they could try to get support from Republicans and get that passed with 51 votes, but it won’t happen. (MTG once again, couldn’t vote as she’s not in the Senate)… could vote for that reconciliation bill to pass the house though
