I feel like there might be a minimum age before being able to do this… I’m in my 40s and I don’t think I could stretch out my ‘bird bath’ enough to pour a drink in it yet, except maybe on a particularly warm day…

It’s quite bad and crazy though. fluoridated water helps to protect people’s teeth, and all you need to do is drink tap water. This means that anyone with access to tap water will get at least some basic protection against tooth decay and all the health problems that stem from that.

Without fluoridated water, the people who do not have access to regular dental care (including toothbrushes and toothpaste) will be the ones who suffer the most. Those are the people who will end up in emergency rooms with infections, heart disease, etc. and will also not be able to pay the hospital bill, thus not only adding stress to already stretched thin emergency rooms, but also overall creating a larger financial burden on the industry.

The “intuitiveness” of imperial measurements is that they’re sorta human-scaled, at least for human-sized measurements. An inch is about the same length as the tip of my thumb, a foot is about as big as my foot, a yard is a single pace if I stretch a bit, etc. which makes it easier for a person to picture it.

Once you get out of that scale it really starts to break down though.

That requires effort, the TV tells people what to think and that is easy.

True for companies that aren’t locked into their pre-covid space. Some have decades-long leases, others own the buildings outright. My last place was able to walk away from a lease that they had just signed months before covid hit, and downsized to a space that just had some meeting rooms, a couple offices for execs, social space and server rooms. No need for a bunch of desks, they went 100% remote during lockdown and decided to stay that way permanently.

Everywhere I’ve worked since college has had people working in multiple locations, so interaction via chat and voice/video call were common pre-covid anyways. The shift to remote really didn’t have any measurable impact on social stuffs aside from going out to lunch with co-workers, which still happens now, we just schedule it ahead of time.

Ah yes, because everybody once they reach the age of 18 have their entire personality set in stone never to change again for the rest of their lives.

Maybe we should just drop him in a volcano because he admitted that at one point he was anti-LGBTQ? What then is the point in even trying to convince others to change their ways if we’re only going to ostracize them based on their previous worldview?

At least he went that route instead of other bigoted parents who actively drive their kids to self-harm/suicide and never learn this lesson.
