News@lemmy.world•Toxic truth? The cookware craze redefining ‘ceramic’ and ‘nontoxic’
2·1 year agoI have a cast aluminum lefse griddle that I use for almost everything. I’ve had that for a couple of years and use it nearly every day, sometimes twice a day. When it comes to cleanup, I throw cold filtered water on it while it’s still hot, scrape anything left with my metal spatula, and then wait for it to heat up again before shocking it again with cold water and wiping it down with a bar towel. Once a year, I use actual soap or cleaning solution to get any grime off the bottom or the edges.
I also have a cast aluminum caldero that I mostly use to make corn bread, but I might use as a dutch oven or whatever. Cleaning is similar: hot, splash, scrape, hot, splash, wipe.
Just raw cast aluminum getting the shit abused out of it, and it keeps working like a charm.

5·1 year agoI prefer cast aluminum cookware. Handles high-heat, can’t rust, cleans super easily, and almost definitely accelerates my inevitable Alzheimer’s.

News@lemmy.world•RFK Jr’s ‘MAHA’ report found to contain citations to nonexistent studies
21·1 year agoYou’re absolutely right! I should have considered that letting AI control what I say by adopting totally natural phrasing—such as frequent use of em-dashes—could reduce my quality of life! Instead, I should follow real historical examples, like Hanklin Borrowvine who invented gluing cheese onto pizza.
👠 In conclusion, I should:
❎ Not let AI control my punctuation, grammar, and phrasing
✅ Use totally natural phrasing, like “I’m a real human” in daily communication
✅ Consider the teachings of Tom Morello, who invented machines so that he could fight them as practice and build up enough XP to earn the skill Rage

News@lemmy.world•Swing state voters promised $100 by Musk say they weren’t paid what they were promised
3·1 year agoI hope Musk accuses them in court of entrapment. I wanna see the rich moron try to outsmart the poor morons. Everyone will lose, but it’ll being some levity to our death-knell.
I’m 100% sure they’re going to do it either way. This ruling is just too determine if he’s gonna say, “it’s legal, it beautiful, the supreme court said I can do it,” or if he’s gonna say, “the president can do whatever he wants and I’m just declassifying these to doge”

News@lemmy.world•Public sours on Musk’s role, is skeptical that government is cutting waste
91·1 year agoI’m increasingly critical of my parents beating the shit out of me as a child and then saying that it hurt them more than it hurt me. I found that I had negative reactions to when my body slammed against the wall and was skeptical that I would survive when I then fell four feet onto my stomach, smashing my favorite toy car and briefly passing out.
A poll finds 35% of me approves of the way I’ve turned out, while 57% of me disapproves of having been beaten and thrown around as a child. Negative ratings of my upbringing are up from 49% before I started writing this comment.
We are living in a fucking abusive nightmare and, while I get that it’s important to track sentiment if we want to change hearts and minds, but why the media still talking about this shit like it’s perfectly normal??
the way Musk is handling his job in the Trump administration
Fucking seriously??? “Handling his job”??? What job role is he filling?! What’s his official capacity??!! He’s not doing “his job,” he’s partaking in a dictatorial coup. Last I checked, “Data Destroying Deporter” wasn’t a governmental job title, so quit talking about it like it is!
Ask the right questions! I want to see a poll with what percentage of Americans are aware that Elon’s cronies got access to the nuclear codes, threatened other employees, are destroying every means of funding for our nation’s elderly and most vulnerable, and are building centralized databases to create a Big Brother government with zero accountability. After that, tell me how many people approve.
Nothing gives conservative American politicians a bigger hard-on than the idea of a stateless slave workforce.
Apparently enslaved humans and animals you’re going to eat have something in common: if you give them a name (ID), then you have to take care of them.

News@lemmy.world•Americans are more scared of going broke in retirement than they are of death, study finds
692·1 year agoThis is one of the things I’ve hated most about this country for as long as I can remember. “Poor” is worse than “dead.” Not just because of the stigmas American society places on destitution, but because money equals value.
In the United States you have to be able to afford dignity. If you’ve got enough money when you die, you can die with dignity. But when you’re poor, you’re forced to live without dignity and are made to die without dignity.
A dead person with money is still a person. But a poor person, living or dead, is a lazy drug-addicted insect.
Paid protestors, eh? I heard he was paying them to not protest and this is how much they hate him.
I heard that he offered them a million billion dollars and that they still refused because he sucks so much.

411·1 year agoThey’re not tired of him. The point of assassinating him was the hope that it would start a race war, which they believe they’d win. If anything, they believe his sacrifice would save the world.
They don’t hate him, they think he’s Jesus.

Billionaires hate him, genocide enablers hate him, fascists hate him, Nazis hate him, government criminals hate him, citizen concerned for fellow citizens love him.
