if you give an inch, they’ll take EVERYTHING.

these are NOT good people we’re up against. and it sucks that some of them are friends and family. if “he” has done one thing well, it’s that he’s separated the wheat from the chaff. be strong, and never forget that you matter.

Fuck yes. This is starting to be about simply: “who is a good person?” It’s us, and fuck them. Our side is about freedom, personal liberty, empathy, and moving FORWARD as a society.

Pascal is 100% correct. The movie cameras were used effectively by the Nazis and Communists to push their agendas and propaganda.

The ultralib can’t help but throw communists into his lil take, as if he doesn’t live in a culture dominated by liberal propaganda to the point that he can’t even recognize it.

Who said that? Communist propaganda has a big history in film. USSR had a huge film industry and artists tend to be leftist.

Howmstever, it’s funny to call it propaganda, a typically derogatory term but I’m gonna say your not the kinda guy who would recognize propaganda as such if it belongs to things you consider “regular”

That’s the point I was making. Would you like it explained again?

I’m fully aware that propaganda can be made in favour of literally anything, good, bad, novel or “regular” to your own viewpoint. I think it’s just funny you went off over communist propaganda in particular being mentioned.

That was my point. Would you like it explained again?

Hey bit biter, that’s my line.

Also, it’s just fun to point out when people mention propaganda with “fascists and communists” as if doing propaganda is an evil manipulation of the public but fails to mention the most successful ideology to use propaganda, liberals.

Here’s a reply on this same post where I do just that. My problem isn’t “communists don’t do propaganda” that’s silly. My problem is calling out ideological use of propaganda without also mentioning liberal propaganda, the one we are immersed in so completely.

Shoulda read more than the very first comment before commenting on what I was and wasn’t doing. :)

I don’t wanna be too optimistic but it does feel like things are moving in the right direction for now. As long as we stand together and fight for what is right and don’t give an inch to them we can and will overcome this.

They’re moving in the absolute wrong direction.

Yes, actors, people, some NGOs are aligning.

But ALL the money is getting in line behind him, like you cannot begin to imagine.

This is going to be a very brutal summer.

I fully agree yes this summer is going to be extremely hard for us I just hope that we can unite and stand against them. Either that or we will be slowly cooked. I try to be as optimistic as possible especially now even if it’s just spreading words and knowledge every little thing matters now.

          I’m old.

This was a fight that needed to happen back in 2010.

We lost it over the last 1.5 decades.

From my point of view, this is the cow, already in the restraints with the boltgun against their head saying “Maybe we should start thinking about a plan.”

I fully agree with everything you are saying. I’m 42 and I’ve seen this country go down hill since 9/11 and honestly you can go all the way back to the 80s with Regan with how the gop has dismantled everything and put us in this situation. We just gotta do the best we can together I know that sounds all happily ever after and yes things are doom and gloom now.

Somehow, I’m significantly more worried about a local theatre’s actors, or that girl who pays for college drawing people’s pets under commission, or that internet comic creator who lives with his parents… Rather than worrying about how the political climate will affect famous Hollywood personalities.

I am not sure what you actually want to tell us? Obviously someone struggling to get by worries us far easier. But this is not a competition, we all need to work together.

I can guarantee you that Pedro Pascal isn’t struggling, and I’d love it if we could “work together” as you said on actual art, not fast food style commercial mega-productions.

You didn’t even read what he said correctly man. I get class solidarity, but when someone uses their platform to speak truth to power and encourage systemic improvement it’s not useful to bitch and bicker like this. It’s a good thing, we should take it as a good thing and use that momentum. Not devolve into the infighting that makes our side so ineffective because we are all trying to be better people, and help each other be better. That makes us morally superior, but also makes it difficult to operate as an effective unit and play like a team, like the right does. They hate and they unify, they don’t divide themselves like this over everything they can find. The fact that we do hold all of ourselves to a higher standard is a good thing, but we need to snap out of it before we let them win the country forever based on our lack of unity. Don’t let perfection be the enemy of the good, especially in this historical moment
