    Is it possible the wheelchair symbol is being used here to refer to mobility handicaps in general and not specifically to wheelchairs?

      No, because “mobility handicaps in general” includes wheelchairs, and I think we can all agree wheelchair users may have some difficulty accessing them.

    Those doors also swing outwards, so even if you get down there the door will hit against your wheelchair and you can’t get in

    Well they better be, because if a wheelchair bound person makes it down thoae stairs, they are going to be there for a while and may need to use the toilet.

    Might as well have slapped an “A.I.-powered for your convenience and safety” sign on those doors, while they’re going through the mindless bullshit motions.
