Thanks for the context, from an American who tries not to read the news because my doctor reccomended that as an alternative to suicide. This whole place is fucked.

My comment was satire on the sad state of the American “education” system

The name of the sea between them is causing turmoil in the SK society, because everyone else is calling it “Sea of Japan”.

that and the fact that the Japanese are absolute dicks about the SK women they enslaved for sex some 70 years ago

Everybody else has been calling it “Sea of Japan” for a really ling time by now.

AFAIK, seas normally take the name of the land that is closing them, and gulfs take the name of the land that is around them.

Now, about their constant Empire apology, yeah, Koreans are in their right to be really pissed of. The entire world should be.

Japan has always given me more of a Denmark vibe. The general shape and area, lots of islands, connected to its’ mainland and a bit on the flatter side but hey, you can’t have it all exactly alike, can you?
They even have their own kinda-sorta version of sushi with a Baltic twist, heavy on the pickled herring. But there is a famous pickled fish sushi version from Kyoto.
